U.S. Post-consumer Plastic Recycling Data Report

In 2021, over 1.1 billion pounds of plastic film were collected for recycling. Of that total, over 264 million pounds of plastic retail bags and film were collected through the store takeback program, a 7.9% increase from the year prior. This recycling value chain supports jobs throughout North America as more than 88 percent of these materials are claimed by U.S. and Canadian processors.
