This holiday season, Americans are shopping online more than ever. According to Salesforce.com, nearly one-third of 2020 holiday shopping will occur online. In addition, consumers are increasingly utilizing curbside pickup services for shopping, which means that reusable bags often cannot be used, and consumers take their purchases home in single-use plastic or paper bags. This all means that this holiday season, there will be a large increase in the number of bags and packaging that consumers need to dispose of.

However, much of the packaging used in online orders is recyclable – but not always in your curbside recycling bin. Air pillows and stretchy plastic bags can be recycled along with your plastic retail bags at many supermarkets and large retail chains.

ARPBA Director Zachary Taylor recently joined WATR to discuss how to recycle plastic bags and film from online shopping.
